VICTORIA POINT ON MORETON BAY
Victoria Point is an awesome residential, Bayside suburb and is situated approximately 33kms, South-East of the Queensland capital, Brisbane, Australia. The suburb has a number of small, family friendly beaches (Thompson’s Beach, Wilson and Orana Esplanades) with a Conservation Area at Point Halloran and Egret Colony Wetlands.
The main point has 2 boat ramps for boat entry to Moreton Bay, a Volunteer Marine Rescue Unit and a short ferry service to the beautiful, idyllic island of Coochiemudlo. The area enjoys good infrastructure with 5 schools (2 state and 3 private), 6 retirement villages, and the local shopping centre is also home to numerous retail establishments, restaurants, library and a cinema complex.
Victoria Point falls within the local Government jurisdiction of Redland City, which covers over 530 square kilometres of mainland and islands on Moreton Bay. The mainland area includes Thorneside, Birkdale and Wellington Point in the north, Mt Cotton and Redland Bay in the south, Capalaba, Alexandra Hills and Sheldon in the west and Ormiston, Thornlands, Victoria Point and Cleveland in the east.
Key industries in the area are tourism, small business and some farming, with Cleveland the civic heart of the region, enjoying a unique bayside shopping and village atmosphere. It is also home to Raby Bay, one of the areas two residential canal estates, with the other being Aquatic Paradise, at Birkdale.
Redland City is just 35-40 minutes by road from Brisbane, the International Airport and the Port of Brisbane. There is also good transport infrastructure to the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast and the islands on Moreton Bay (Russell, Lamb, Karragarra and Macleay) are easily accessed via vehicular ferries and water taxi services, as is North Stadbroke Island, where great surf beaches will be found.
The region enjoys a sub-tropical climate most of the year. The prevailing winds come from the south-east and May – September is generally drier than October – April.
Whilst Redland City has seen significant growth in the past, it has maintained lifestyle and the environment as core attributes of the community and is a fantastic place to live!
